Enaji Muhammad Earns All-America Honorable Mention

EUGENE, Ore.- Freshman jumper Enaji Muhammad (Branford, Conn.) earned all-American Honorable Mention honors Friday evening in the men's high jump at the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Eugene. Muhammad finished tied for 20th place in the event, clearing 2.10m in his second attempt before coming up short in his three attempts at 2.15m. The freshman from Connecticut punched his ticket to the national championships with a personal-best jump of 2.15m, finishing 10th in the high jump at the NCAA East Region First Round two weeks ago in Jacksonville.
On Day 1 of the heptathlon, Maresa Hense (Germany)Â set a new personal best in the 100m hurdles, finishing 13th in the event with a time of 13.86, the 8th best mark in program history. The freshman finished 17th in the high jump at 1.63m. Hense set a new personal best in the shot put, finishing 13th at 12.37m. Hense wrapped up her first day of competition in the 200m, finishing 8th with a time of 24.27. Hense finished the day in 12th place overall with 3,410 points. She will conclude the heptathlon tomorrow evening, beginning at 6:30pm eastern with the long jump, followed by the javelin and 800m.
