Four Huskies Qualify for NCAA Track & Field Championships

JACKSONVILLE, Fla.- UConn men's and women's track and field wrapped up the NCAA East First Round in Jacksonville after four days of competition. Four Huskies punched their tickets to Eugene, Oregon for the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships from June 11-14th.
Josh Mooney (Decathlon), Diarmuid O'Connor (Decathlon), Maresa Hense (Heptathlon) and Enaji Muhammad (High Jump) will head to Oregon to compete in the championships. Mooney secured his spot in Eugene after a 7,810 point performance at the BIG EAST Championships in Storrs, the 5th most in the country. O'Connor posted 7,658 points at the UConn Northeast Challenge to qualify for the championships, the 7th best performance in the country. Â Hense tallied 5,733 points at the Northeast Challenge as well, good for 4th in the country in the heptathlon.
Muhammad clinched his spot in Eugene in the high jump, with a personal-best performance of 2.15m, finishing tied for 10th in the region to punch his ticket in his freshman season.
On Saturday, Jenna Zydanowicz (West Hartford, Conn.) wrapped up her accomplished UConn career with a personal-best 15:46.39 in the 5000m, the second-best mark in program history, finishing 15th in the event. Sarah Trainor (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) finished 27th in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 10:22.99. Malin Rahm (Schaffhausen, Switzerland) and Faith Kiplimo (Eldoret, Kenya) finished 33rd and 34th in the steeplechase, with times of 10:30.24 and 10:30.90, respectively. Zayin Roe
