HookC Falls To Creighton In BIG EAST Championship Game

MASON, Ohio – The UConn baseball team (38-21) fell to Creighton (41-20), 7-4, in the BIG EAST Championship game on Saturday evening at Prasco Park.
The Huskies scored all their runs on home runs with Caleb Shpur, Beau Root and Ryan Daniels all hitting round trippers.
Shpur tied the game in the top of the fifth with his eighth home run of the year, a solo shot, to make it a 1-1 game.
After Creighton scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the fifth, Beau Root hammered a solo shot to right center to make it a 3-2 game.
The Bluejays extended the lead in the eighth and took a 7-2 lead into the ninth.
Ryan Daniels hit his 18th home run of the year into the upper deck of the right field stands to trim the deficit to 7-4. Tyler Minick then reached on an error but was left stranded at second to end the game.
The Huskies will await the NCAA Selection Show on Monday, May 26 at 12 p.m. on ESPN2.
