Track & Field Looks to Continue Dominance at 2025 BIG EAST Indoor Championships

STORRS, Conn.-Â UConn men's and women's track & field will look to continue their recent dominance in the BIG EAST Conference, traveling to the Dr. Conrad Worrill Track and Field Center in Chicago for the 2025 BIG EAST Championships Presented by Jeep from February 28th- March 1st.Â
The men's side is in pursuit of their fourth straight BIG EAST Indoor championship and 13th overall, with the women also going for their fourth title in a row and sixth overall. Last season, the men posted 237 points to defeat runner-up Butler (116 points) for their title third consecutive BIG EAST Indoor title. The women outclassed runner-up Villanova (121 points) with a mark of 168 points. The men won seven individual event & relay titles in 2024, with the women winning four.Â
The Huskies come in as the top-ranked team in the conference on both the men's and women's side according to the track & field rated index (TRFI). The men's heptathlon (#3), men's triple jump (#4), and men's long jump (#9) come into the championships in the USTFCCCA Event Squad top 10 rankings.Â
In the indoor regular season, the Huskies finished with 35 new top 10 all-time marks in program history, four BIG EAST Athlete of the Week awards, and six new indoor school records in the women's 5000m, women's 300m, men's long jump, men's 60m hurdles, men's triple jump, and women's 3000m.Â
Last season, UConn took home both Men's and Women's Coaching Staff of the Year last season. Kyle Johnson won Men's Most Outstanding Performer in Field Events, and Kasey Savage won Men's High Point Performer of the Meet. Johnson returns to action in the long jump and will seek to defend his crown in the triple jump. Savage will compete in the high jump, long jump, and triple jump.
On the women's side, Jasmine Barrow won Women's Most Outstanding Performer in Field Events, also sharing women's high point performer of the meet honors with two other student-athletes.
The men have compiled 101 all-time individual event and relay titles (3rd all-time.) The women have tallied 58 all-time individual event and relay titles (5th all-time.)Â
Championship victories by both the men and women would be the seventh occurrence of a dual championship.
