Huskies Fall to #4 Terriers, Split Weekend Series

STORRS, Conn. — The University of Connecticut men's hockey team fell to no.4 Boston University by a final of 3-1. Despite outshooting the visitors 25-20, the Huskies could not capitalize on their power play opportunities.
The opening period commenced with the Huskies exerting early pressure, as Kaden Shahan and Anthony Allain Samake both tested Boston University's goaltender, Mikhail Yegorov, though neither attempt found the net. UConn capitalized on a Boston University penalty for too many players but could not convert during the power play. Tyler Muszelik provided a strong defensive presence in goal, making several key saves against Boston University's offensive efforts. As the period wound down, Jake Richard was penalized for hooking, granting Boston University a power play. Following a strong kill, Boston University found the back of the net with 20 seconds remaining to give the Terriers the 1-0 lead heading into the break.
In the second period, Boston University doubled their lead midway through the period. Shortly after, UConn found the back of the net when Joey Muldowney scored assisted by Ethan Gardula and Viking Gustafsson Nyberg, narrowing the deficit to 2-1. Despite this momentum, Boston University responded shortly after, with Harvey extending their lead to 3-1. The period ended with Boston University maintaining their advantage.
UConn faced a challenging third period, marked by several missed opportunities to close the gap against Boston University. Despite a strong defensive effort, including blocked shots by Trey Scott and Anthony Allain Samake, the Huskies were unable to convert their offensive efforts into goals. Muszelik contributed with key saves, but Boston University's defense, led by multiple saves from Yegorov, held firm. UConn pulled their goalie for an extra attacker late in the period, but Boston University maintained their defensive stance. The period ended without a change in score, concluding the game with a final score of Boston University 3, UConn 1.
