STORRS, CT – The UConn men's golf team will participate in their final tournament of the fall season with their longest trip of the year as they head to Maui to take part in the 11th Ka'anapali Classic by OUTRIGGER at the Royal Ka'anapali Golf Course.
The Huskies have participated in eight of the 11 Ka'anapali Classic tournaments, each to close their fall seasons. This year's event will play out over three days on Monday through Wednesday, October 27-29. The 54-hole tournament will be held at the 6,700-yard, par 71 Ka'anapali Golf Club.
UConn will compete with the likes of host Hawai?i along with Boise State, Colorado, CSUN, East Tennessee State, Florida Gulf Coast, Georgia, Gonzaga, Indiana, Kansas, North Florida, Oklahoma, Sacramento State, San Jose State, Southern Illinois, TCU, UC Irvine, and Wyoming.
Leading the Husky lineup will be senior Connor Goode (Glastonbury, CT) and junior Bradley Sawka (Ellington, CT) who have had strong fall seasons. Both golfers lead the team with a pair of top-10 finishes and three finishes in the top 20 in the four events this fall.
Sawka has a team-low 71.5 per round average, with Goode right behind at 72.0. Sawka's best finish on the fall was tying for the top-spot at the UConn Invitational at GreatHorse. Goode's top showing also came at the UConn Invite with a seventh-place finish.
Rounding out the UConn lineup is sophomores Matt Costello (Taunton, MA) and Caden Blanchette (Manchester, PA) and senior Colin Spencer (Mashpee, MA). Freshman Brayden Janard (Jupiter, FL) will play the event as an individual.
Following this week's tournament and the winter break, the Huskies are back in action in February when they open the spring at the Lake Jovita Invitational in Dade City, FL.
