Huskies back in action for pair of matchups against Northeast Schools

STORRS, Conn. - Â The UConn women's field hockey team is back in action as they welcome Providence College to Storrs Friday at 3pm before hitting the road for a non-conference matchup against Massachusetts Sunday at 1pm.
The Huskies enter the weekend with a 3-5 overall record and a 1-1 record in the BIG EAST. The Huskies opened the conference slate with a win over Villanova but fell to no.5 Liberty by a final of 1-0 last weekend. All five of the Huskies losses have come at the hands of ranked opponents, btu UConn will look to right the ship this weekend. UConn's offense has put pressure on opposing defenses, as the Huskies have averaged 10 shots per game and are firing 60% of their shots on goal.
Providence enters the weekend posting a 6-3 overall record and a 1-1 record in BIG EAST action. The friars are coming off a 2-0 weekend which featured wins against Georgetown and Hofstra. Last season's matchup between the Huskies and Friars was a battle with Providence edging the Huskies by a final of 3-2 in overtime.
Following the matchup against the Friars, UConn will hit the road for a non-conference battle against Massachusetts. These two teams have history, with the Minute women knocking off UConn in the NCAA tournament last season. Massachusetts enters the weekend posting a 9-1 overall record. Massachusetts is coming off a 1-1 weekend which featured a win vs. Miami University (OH) and a loss to Ohio.
