Huskies Drop Weekend Series to Northeastern

BOSTON, Mass. – The No. 10 ranked UConn women's hockey team lost 1-0 to the Northeastern Huskies on Saturday afternoon at Matthews Arena. UConn moves to 5-2 in Hockey East in 6-6 overall.
Tia Chan made her second consecutive start in net for the Huskies. The Senior finished with 20 saves in the game.
Northeastern opened the scoring midway through the first period as Skylar Irving capitalized on a turnover in UConn's zone, making it 1-0. UConn turned up the pressure in the offensive zone, outshooting Northeastern 15-6 to close out the first period.
Northeastern remained ahead through the second period with shots favoring UConn, 23-11 in the second frame.
UConn continued to push for an equalizer in the third period as the Huskies made Northeastern Goaltender Lisa Jönsson make 13 saves in the final period. Jönsson finished with 37 saves and shutout UConn in back to back games for the first time this season.
