WSOC Begins Three Match Home Stretch

STORRS, Conn. - The UConn women's soccer team (1-1) opens a three match home stand with a Thursday, August 31 game against Army and Sunday, Sept. 3 against New Hampshire at Morrone Stadium. Both games will kick off at 7 p.m. and be streamed for free on UConn+.
Thursday's match will be Huskies and Heroes night, in honor of the game tickets have been donated to Vet Tix for veterans to attend the game for free. Visit VetTix.org to claim your ticket now.Â
The Huskies are coming off a tightly contested road loss to Harvard, a team receiving votes in the latest NSCA poll.Â
Sophomore Chioma Okafor leads the Huskies with a goal and an assist in the Huskies first two games of the season while fifth-year senior Cara Jordan and junior Abbey Jones have also notched goals.Â
Army enters Thursday's match at 0-3-1, coming off a close loss to Auburn at home. The Huskies and Black Knights played to a 1-1 tie on Opening Night last season in West Point. UConn is 2-0-1 all-time against Army.Â
New Hampshire is 2-1 in the early part of their season with wins against Stonehill and Manhattan. The Huskies are 16-1 all-time against the Wildcats with the last meeting coming in the first round of the 2014 NCAA Tournament, a 2-0 UConn victory.Â
