- The UConn Huskies will return Home for the 3rd home game of the season as they welcome Merrimack to kick off a two-game series with the Warriors.
- The game Friday will be the Huskies 3rd home game of the season and their 2nd game at the Toscano Family Ice Forum on UConn's campus.
- The Huskies are coming off a 1-1 weekend against Vermont. The Huskies fell to the Catamounts in game one by a final of 4-1 before bouncing back to claim game two by a final of 5-2 and come away with a weekend split.
- In the 5-2 win vs. Vermont, the Huskies offense exploded for 4 goals in the third period. Three of the goals came in 38 seconds, with Tristan Fraser kicking off the scoring before sophomore Matthew Wood scored back-to-back goals.
- The Huskies have relied heavily on their young players to begin the season. 5 of the 10 goal scorers this season have been either freshman or sophomores.
- Sophomore Matthew Wood has begun to find his stride, as he now leads the team with 5 goals and 8 points. . .
- The Huskies penalty kill has continued to impress. This season the Huskies penalty kill is currently ranked 5th in the nation with a 95.1% penalty kill.
- The Huskies goaltending has been steady to start the season. The duo of sophomore Arsenii Sergeev and senior Ethan Haider have combined to post a .921 save %.
- To start the season, the Huskies have struggled against teams that block a lot of shots. Heading into the weekend, the Huskies will have their hands full as Merrimack has blocked a total of 115 shots.
- Senior goaltender Ethan Haider is currently ranked 5th amongst active NCAA goaltenders with 1.39 goals against average and is currently ranked 4th in the Nation with a .942 save %.
- Merrimack is coming off an 0-2 weekend against the University of Maine. Despite the two losses, the Warriors posted 5 total goals over the weekend.
