The UConn Huskies will head to Lowell Massachusetts to begin Hockey East action as they have a rematch of last year's quarterfinal game against the UMass Lowell Riverhawks.
The Huskies and River Hawks faced off three times last season, twice in the regular season and once in the playoffs. The Huskies took 4 of 6 points from the matchups in the regular season games, however UMass Lowell won the playoff game by a final of 2-1 last march.
The Huskies are coming off a 1-1 weekend up in Schenectady New York against Union College. To date the Huskies offense has been struggling to find the back of the net but exploded for five goals Saturday on 69 total shots. Tristan Fraser scored two goals, while senior goaltender Ethan Haider made 22 saves in the shutout.
The Huskies have relied heavily on their young players to begin the season. 5 of the 9 goal scorers this season have been either freshman or sophomores.
