Huskies Set for Midweek Matchup Against Providence at Home

STORRS, Conn. - The University of Connecticut women's volleyball team is set for a midweek BIG EAST matchup against Providence at the UConn Volleyball Center this Wednesday, Oct. 18.Â
The Huskies will look to continue their strong play after securing the first conference victory of the season over Butler in four sets on Saturday, Oct. 14. UConn now stands at 6-16 overall and 1-7 in BIG EAST action. The Huskies were led by sophomore Emma Werkmeister as Werkmeister racked up a double-double with 18 kills and 12 digs. Also, with a double-double on the night was junior Doga Kutlu with 42 assists and 18 digs marking 13 double-doubles this season.Â

Entering the matchup, the Friars are 8-12 overall and 2-6 in conference play. Last time out, Providence fell to Xavier in three sets on Saturday. Leading the way this season is outside hitter Shaliyah Rhoden with 215 kills, 46 digs, and 20 blocks. Rhoden also posts a 2.87 kill per set rate which is top at the leaderboard for the Friars.Â
