Huskies Set to Host Xavier and Butler this Weekend

STORRS, Conn. - The University of Connecticut women's volleyball team is set to host a two-game BIG EAST matchup this weekend with Xavier on Friday, Oct. 13 and Butler on Saturday, Oct. 14.

The Huskies now 5-13 overall and 0-6 in conference play, look to snap their seven-game skid heading into the weekend. Last time out, UConn fell to Georgetown in four sets on Saturday, Oct. 7. Leading the way this season for the Huskies is sophomore Emma Werkmeister as Werkmeister is posting 204 kills, 121 digs, 22 assists, 21 blocks, and 18 service aces. Junior Doga Kutlu also highlighted the last match with 11 double-doubles on the season collecting 36 assists and 22 digs.

Scouting Xavier

Heading into the matchup, the Musketeers are 11-6 overall and 4-2 in BIG EAST action. Last time out, Xavier bested Seton Hall in four sets on Oct. 7. Leading the way this season is middle blocker Delaney Hogan as Hogan is putting up 155 kills, 46 blocks, and 10 service aces.

Scouting Butler

Heading into the matchup, the Bulldogs are 8-9 overall and 2-4 in conference play. Last time out, Butler fell in three sets against St. John's on Oct. 7. Leading the way this season for the Bulldogs are outside hitters Mariah Grunze and Abby Maesch as they combine for 414 kills, 248 digs, 53 blocks, 21 assists, and 21 service aces.

The Huskies get underway on Friday, Oct. 13 and Saturday, Oct. 14 at 4 p.m. ET. The games can be streamed live on Flo Sports.
