STORRS, Conn. - By no means did the 3-0 score line that read after the match indicate how well the UConn women's soccer team competed against No. 4 South Carolina on Thursday night at Morrone Stadium in front of 1,086 fans.
UConn controlled play for large stages of the match with their possession and showed off the team's athleticism throughout the game but ultimately dropped its first match of 2022.
After a 0-0 opening 45 minutes, the Huskies came out firing with Jaydah Bedoya nearly giving the Huskies the lead out of the halftime break.Â
The New Bedford, Mass. native send a curling ball from just outside the box that banged off the crossbar.
Moments later Bedoya generated another opportunity just outside the box that was saved by the Carolina keeper.Â
The Gamecocks broke through 63rd minute with a goal from Samantha Chang. The game remainded 1-0 until South Carolina was able to cash in two goals in the final 10 minutes.
Next up, the Huskies look to bounce back on Sunday, August 28 at 1 p.m. against UMass Lowell at Morrone Stadium.
