STORRS, Conn. - The UConn women's soccer team powered past UMass Lowell, 5-0, on Sunday afternoon at Morrone Stadium.
The Huskies potent offense went right to work in the 7th minute with Jaydah Bedoya sending a centering ball into the box that found Jada Konte. Konte delivered her second goal of the season and the Huskeis were off and running.
Konte returned the favor to Bedoya at the 11:45 mark of the first half with her own centering ball into the six. Cara Jordan redirected towards the New Bedord, Mass. native and Bedoya deposited her shot in the back of the net for her first goal of 2022.
After the River Hawks gifted the Huskies an own goal at 16:24, Maddie Carroll capped the first half scoring with her second goal of the season. The freshman received a pass from Abbey Jones with her back to goal, then spun around and drilled a right-footed shot off the right post and richotted into goal.
Carroll wasn't done yet, the Manchester, Conn. native notched her second goal of the match by utilizing her great speed. She was able to create space from her defender and give UConn a 5-0 lead.
Carroll nearly had her first career hat trick but one of her attempts banged off the cross bar and away from goal.
The Huskies now hit the road the next two weeks with Sunday matchups against Northeastern and CCSU before returning home on Friday, Septemebr 16 against Yale at 7 p.m.
