Softball surge past Georgetown in series finale

Washington, DC – UConn shuts out Georgetown 4-0 to win the series. Move to 5-1 in the BIG EAST.
Meghan O'Neil got the start in the rubber game against the Hoyas. She tossed a gem pitching 6.2 shutout innings for the Huskies.
Rosie Garcia would open the scoring for the Huskies in the second, with a solo shot to left. Garcia delivered again for the Huskies in the fourth with another homer, this time a two run shot, to extend UConn's lead to 3-0. She now leads the Huskies with five home runs on the season.
Sami Barnett would add an insurance run on a single to left, scoring Reese Guevarra giving the Huskies a 4-0 lead.
Marybeth Olson came on to close out the win for the Huskies.
Head coach Laura Valentino had this to say about her team's performance on the weekend, "It was great to see the team be resilient and get a series win today. Our selflessness and care for each other showed up and that makes me very proud. I am looking forward to a productive week of practice as we move into our first week of home games in our beautiful stadium."
UConn will be back in action on Wednesday, March 23rd for their home opener against Army at 3:00pm.
