UConn VB to Open Season at Syracuse Tournament

STORRS, Conn. – The UConn volleyball team begins the fall 2021 slate at the Syracuse Tournament this Friday and Saturday. The Huskies will take on Albany Friday at 2:30 p.m., Syracuse Friday at 7 p.m. and Buffalo Saturday at 3 p.m.
Senior outside hitter Caylee Parker was named to the Preseason All-BIG EAST Team. The Huskies were voted to finish sixth in the league's Preseason Coaches' Poll.
The Huskies return nine players from last season: Parker, Kennadie Jake-Turner, Anna Petrova, Klaudia Sowizral, Madi Whitmire, Mia Ruffalo, Allie Garland, Jasmine Davis, Aset Baker-Falealili, Taylor Pannell and Audrey Jones.
UConn will feature four newcomers in 2021, including freshmen Brooklyn Wiedenheft and Carly Furlong and transfers McKayla Wuensch and Karly Berkland.
Head coach Ellen Herman-Kimball enters her third season at the helm of the program.
Scouting the Great Danes
Albany was picked first in the preseason America East Poll. The Great Danes finished the 2021 spring schedule with a 10-5 record.
UConn is 4-1 all-time vs. Albany.
Scouting the Orange
Syracuse was picked sixth in the preseason ACC poll. Junior Marina Markova and senior Polina Shermanova were named preseason All-ACC. The Orange finished the spring 2021 schedule with a 7-9 overall record.
UConn is 15-31 all-time vs. Syracuse.
Scouting the Bulls
Buffalo was picked to finish sixth in the MAC East Division. Sophomore Milla Malik was selected to the preseason All-MAC East Division team.
UConn is 1-0 all-time vs. Buffalo.
