STORRS, Conn. – The University of Connecticut field hockey team is set for a rematch with the Friars on Sunday, March 7 in Providence. Game time is set for 1 p.m. The Huskies, idle since their 4-0 victory against PC on Sunday, February 28, enter the contest with a 2-0 mark. Providence, coming off a 2-1 loss at Quinnipiac on Friday are 0-2.
Sophomore midfielder Sophie Hamilton leads the Huskies with three goals and three assists for nine points while freshman Claire van den Noort, the reigning BIG EAST Freshman of the Week, is tied with Hamilton for the team lead in helpers.
UConn enters the contest outscoring the competition 9-0 in its first two games of the 2020-21 season and has rattled off 44 shots while allowing only three shots by the opposition. Perhaps even more impressive, the Huskies have created 19 penalty corner opportunities without allowing a single corner by Hofstra of Providence.
