No. 19 FH Begins BIG EAST Championship on Friday

STORRS, Conn. - The No. 19 UConn field hockey team (10-10, 5-2 BIG EAST) are seeking its 10th-straight BIG EAST Tournament crown this weekend at the BIG EAST Championship hosted at the Huskies home digs, the George Sherman Family Sports Complex.
 The four-team championship opens for the No. 2 seeded Huskies with their semfinal matchup against No. 3 seeded Old Dominion at 4 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 5 on the BIG EAST Digital Network.
No. 1 seeded Liberty will face off against Temple at 1 p.m. on Friday.
On Wednesday, the BIG EAST announced its postseason awards with five Huskies receiving honors. Freshman Sophia Ugo captured BIG EAST Freshman of the Year and First Team All-BIG EAST recognition. Abby Gooderham joined UGo on the first team while Jessica Dembrowski, Cheyenne Sprecher and Claire Jandewerth landed on the All-BIG EAST Second Team.Â
The 18-game winning streak for the Huskies in the BIG EAST Championship dates back to a 2011 title game loss to Syracuse in Storrs.Â
Overall, the Huskies have won 40 BIG EAST Championships in school history with 20 of them coming in the BIG EAST Championship.Â
