STORRS, Conn. - The University of Connecticut men's soccer team, led by sophomore Moussa Wade, defeated Rutgers 4-2 on Wednesday evening at Joseph J. Morrone Stadium in Storrs. The hard-fought battle saw four first half goals, and six yellow cards.

The contest featured a defensive battle early as neither team was able to generate a shot on goal through 10 minutes. UConn's best chance came in the 10^th minute when a cross from sophomore Thomas Decottignies was put home by freshman Okem Chime but called back due to an offsides.

Rutgers would eventually take the lead off a breakaway goal in the 13^th minute. UConn would continue pressuring the Rutgers goalkeeper and less than a minute later sophomore Jayden Reid would net the equalizer. Rutgers would answer the UConn goal to take the lead once again in the 17^th minute. Following the back-and-forth goals, UConn's defense would tighten up and limit Rutgers' scoring chances.

UConn would answer back in the 35^th minute when senior Dominic Laws would take the cross from Wade and put it past the keeper to send the teams into halftime tied at two.

UConn would break the tie early in the second half when Decottignies would dribble through multiple defenders and put one right past the keeper to give UConn the 3-2 lead. The intensity would pick up as a total of five yellow cards were issued in the second half of the match.

UConn would extend their lead in 62^nd minute of the half when Moussa Wade would heel pass behind him to wide open freshman Mateo Leveque who would put it away to give UConn the 4-2 lead. The two goal lead would hold the rest of the second half as the Huskies would win by a final of 4-2.
