HARTFORD, Conn. – Despite dropping Sunday afternoon's conference match to Cincinnati, 1-0, there were plenty of other reasons to smile for the UConn women's soccer team, as redshirt-sophomore goalkeeper set a new career-high for saves.
Palacios stuffed five Bearcat shot attempts in the first half and collected five more second-half saves to bring her game total and new career-high to 10 stops. The Vienna, Va., native previously held a career-high of seven saves, which she set back on Aug. 17, 2018 vs. Northeastern.
The Huskies best scoring opportunities came in the 37th and 74th minutes. Isabelle Lynch stole the ball, leading to a breakaway, and dropped a pass off to Regan Schiappa but her shot was stuffed at 36:36. Late in the second half, after posting up in the box, Emma Zaccagnini attempted a turnaround shot but couldn't sneak the ball past the Cincinnati keeper.
