HARTFORD, Conn. – The UConn men's soccer team snapped its three-game skid and got back in the win column as they defeated Manhattan, 2-0, Tuesday night at Dillon Stadium.
Senior Jordan Hall and redshirt-junior Cole Venner paced the Huskies with one goal apiece, with Dayonn Harris, Robin Lapert and Djimon Johnson providing the assists. Sophomore goalkeeper Gianluca Catalano collected three saves in net and earned his second shutout of the season.
A breakaway goal less than seven minutes into the match put UConn ahead 1-0. After receiving the pass from Johnson, Harris dribbled the ball, launched a pass towards a streaking Hall and the senior nestled the ball into the left corner pocket at 6:34 to give UConn the advantage.
The Huskies struck again midway through the second half on Venner's first goal of the season. Robin Lapert played a beautiful ball out to the redshirt-junior, and Venner eluded two defenders before drilling his shot at 62:32 to give UConn a 2-0 advantage.
UConn would coast the rest of the way to earn the win. The Huskies move to 3-3 on the season while Manhattan falls to 0-4.
