Gooderham Leads No. 3 UConn Past No. 25 Michigan State

EAST LANSING, Mich. – Sophomore Abby Gooderham scored twice to lead the No. 3 UConn field hockey team (5-1) past No. 25 Michigan State (4-2), 2-0, Sunday.
Both of Gooderham's goals came off penalty corners. Senior Antonia Tiedtke assisted on both goals while senior Svea Boker and freshman Sophie Hamilton each picked up an assist.
The first goal came at the 14:42 mark in the first quarter. After taking the 1-0 lead into halftime, Gooderham scored again at 31:51 in the third.
UConn outshot Michigan State 30-2. The Huskies had a 12-2 advantage in penalty corners.
Redshirt sophomore Cheyenne Sprecher had her third shutout of the season while making one save.
The Huskies open BIG EAST play at Quinnipiac next Friday at 3 p.m.
