Men’s Soccer Riding Momentum into Rematch with 2018 NCAA Tournament Foe URI

STORRS, Conn. – Coming off a 2-0 shutout win over Rider in the season opener, the UConn men's soccer team looks to carry that momentum into an early week road match at Rhode Island – a rematch of the 2018 NCAA First Round.
The Labor Day matchup will be played at the URI Soccer Complex in Kingston, R.I., and is slated for a 7:00 p.m. kickoff. The game will be streamed on ESPN+

What to Know:
- The Huskies and Rams have met on the pitch 35 times over the course of their program history, with UConn holding a tight grip on the series with a 23-10-2 mark.
- UConn has won the last 13 games against Rhode Island, including last season's NCAA 1st Round game. Trailing 3-1 with 15 minutes left in the game, freshman Ibrahima Diop tallied two goals to tie knot the score at 3-3 and send the game into overtime. Diop would complete the hat knick, heading home a ball in the 99th minute to give the Huskies a 4-3 victory and a trip to the second round.
- The Huskies are coming off a 2-0 shutout win in the season opener against Rider.
- Senior Jordan Hall had an impressive outing in his UConn debut as he netted both UConn goals on just three shots. Dayonn Harris assisted on both of Hall's goals, while Moussa Wade and Felix Metzler each contributed assists of their own.
- With Friday night's win, 23rd-year head coach Ray Reid earned his 300th victory at UConn. Reid now holds a career mark of 446-130-75 in 31 seasons as a head coach.
