STORRS, Conn. – The UConn men's tennis team celebrated their Senior Day on Saturday afternoon hosting the Marist Red Foxes. The Huskies came-up short in their final regular season match, losing 5-2 on their home courts.
The Huskies honored their seniors Hank Hill (Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.), Jack McLister (Leesburg, Va.) and Justin Warren (Durham, N.C.) along with their families after the match.
"Today was a special day for our three seniors," stated associate head coach Reinaldo Vlaor. "All the seniors have given me their best every day and responded whenever I challenged them."
McLister and Warren picked-up both UConn points on Saturday. McLister was a double winner, earning a victory with teammate sophomore John Michael Holtmann (Coral Gables, Fla.) at No. 2. The duo beat Lars Schouten and Max Darrington, 6-2, improving to 16-12 overall playing together this season.
The senior then posted his 15th win in singles play, defeating Kian Yazdi at No. 4, 6-2 and 7-5. Warren won at No. 5, beating Carlos Moreno in a three-set battle. Warren won 6-2, 2-6 and 6-3 in the third to grab his 15th singles win this season as well.
"The guys helped reestablishing a winning attitude & culture for UConn Men's Tennis. The guys coming back and the recruits coming now have to keep that culture going. I have truly enjoyed our time together.
