UConn resumes conference play at Wichita State

STORRS, Conn.—The UConn softball team will resume American Athletic Conference play this weekend in Kansas. The Huskies will take on the Shockers of Wichita State in a three-game series with first-pitch at 4:00 p.m.

UConn is currently 9-17 overall and 0-3 in the AAC. Recently the Huskies took on the River Hawks of UMass-Lowell in a nine inning contest to open the season on the field of Burrill. Junior Carli Cutler posted her 100th career hit in the match up. Sophomore Briana Marcelino nabbed her third home run on the season. Freshman Ashley Esty has increased her hitting streak to 10 games, the longest of any student-athlete on the team.
SCOUTING WICHITA STATE
Wichita State is 20-12, 1-2 AAC after their loss to No. 21 Oklahoma State on Wednesday night. Head Coach Kristi Bredbenner is entering her eighth season at the helm. Her 2019 roster is spearheaded by underclassmen with eight sophomores leading the way.
