UConn Primed for Two-Game Homestand against Vermont

STORRS, Conn. – The UConn women's hockey team resumes Hockey East action as its set to host the Vermont Catamounts in a two game homestand this weekend. On Friday, the Huskies and Catamounts will battle it out at 3 p.m. at the Freitas Ice Forum, while Saturday's tilt is scheduled for a 1 p.m. puck drop and will be played at the XL Center in Hartford, Conn.
Admission to the game is free, with General Admission seating. Fans in attendance will receive a free ticket to the men's hockey game, which will take place at the XL Center, later that day at 5 p.m.
The XL Center's bag policy will be in effect and the metal detectors will be in place. Also following the game, the Comcast Coliseum Club will open at 3 pm for the Men's Hockey Game and fans with a ticket can attend. Opponent and Series History (Northeastern)…
- The Huskies lead the all-time series with Vermont, 26-10-4. UConn took the first matchup, 4-2, back on Oct. 6
- Vermont enters the weekend with an 8-17-4 overall record and a 6-14-2 mark in WHEA competition. The Catamounts are coming off a 1-1 weekend. UVM fell to BU, 7-2, in the Pack the Gut Challenge on Friday night, but bounced back with a 2-1 triumph over Holy Cross Sunday afternoon.
- Eve-Audrey Picard and Alyssa Gorecki lead the team with seven goals apiece. Picard also paces the Catamounts in assists (11) and points (18).
- In 23 starts in net for UVM, netminder Melissa Black posts a 5-15-3 record with a .896 save percentage and a 2.92 goals-against average.
Last Time Out…
The Huskies are coming off a 0-2 weekend against No. 3 Northeastern and Providence. UConn dropped a heartbreaking, 2-1 (OT) decision to NU on Friday before falling to Providence on the road, 3-1. Savannah Bouzide and Catherine Crawley were the goal scorers for UConn.

Chris Mackenzie enters his sixth season as the coach of the Huskies. Mackenzie has been an instrumental part in turning the program around and in 2015-16, Mackenzie coached UConn to their first winning season since 2010.
