STORRS, Conn. – After inclement weather conditions from the impending Hurricane Florence derailed travel plans, the UConn men's soccer team will stay home this weekend and face the Loyola-Maryland Greyhounds on Saturday, Sept. 15 at 7 p.m. at Morrone Stadium. All tickets will be FREE general admission seating.
UConn (3-2) is coming off a 1-0 victory over Dartmouth on Sept. 8, which hiked the Huskies' record to 3-0 at Morrone Stadium. Senior Abdou Mbacke Thiam, whose goal won the game against Dartmouth, leads the team with two goals scored and five points, while Felix Metzler and Robin Lapert have the Huskies' other goals this season.
Loyola (3-1), out of the Patriot League, has knocked off Rutgers, Mount St. Mary's and St. John's this season, while suffering its only defeat against Villanova. The Greyhounds, under fifth-year head coach Steve Nichols, have outscored their opponents, 7-2.
Following its home game Tuesday against Boston College, the Huskies will open American Athletic Conference play on Saturday, Sept. 22, against USF at Morrone Stadium.
