Huskies Wrap First Half of Season with Home-and-Home versus Providence

STORRS, Conn. – As it prepares to close out the first half of the 2018-19 hockey season, the UConn women's hockey team will play a home-and-home series against No. 8 Providence this weekend. The Huskies will host Providence at Freitas Ice Forum on Friday, Nov. 30 at 6 p.m. before making the return trip to Rhode Island on Saturday, Dec. 1 for a 3 p.m. tilt.

UConn went 1-1 and took home third place in the 2018 Nutmeg Classic. The Huskies dropped the first round game to Quinnipiac, 3-2, before bouncing back and taking home a 1-0 shutout win over the Yale Bulldogs. It was the weekend of the freshman, as Danika Pasqua tallied both UConn goals in the loss, while Viki Harkness lit the lamp for UConn and Samantha Carpentier-Yelle stopped 28 shots en route to the 1-0 win.

Chris Mackenzie enters his sixth season as the coach of the Huskies. Mackenzie has been an instrumental part in turning the program around and in 2015-16, Mackenzie coached UConn to their first winning season since 2010.
