UConn Loses 9-5 to Santa Clara

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - The Huskies dropped a 9-5 decision on Tuesday night at Stephen Schott Field against Santa Clara.
Zac Susi (Southington, Conn.) and Tyler Gnesda (Laguna Nigel, Calif.) led the way offensively, recording three-hit nights for the Huskies. The duo combined for six of the 10 UConn hits on the night.
John Toppa and Chris Winkel (Orange, Conn.) both drove in a pair of runs for the Huskies. Toppa tied the game in the fourth with a two-out, two-run single into center field.
Down 6-4 in the sixth, Winkel drilled an RBI triple to center field to get the Huskies within a run.
UConn compiled double-digit hits for the sixth time this season.
