WHOC Back in Action, Hosts RPI This Weekend

STORRS, Conn. - For the first time in almost two weeks, the UConn women's ice hockey team prepares for game action when it hosts Rensselaer for a pair of contests this weekend at the Mark Edward Freitas Ice Forum.
The Huskies (3-3-1, 0-2-1 WHEA) have not played since Oct. 22 at Boston University, following an off-weekend. Friday's game is at 7 p.m. (ET), while puck drop on Saturday is at 3 p.m. (ET). Admission is free for home games.
Jack Templeton will be on the call for the Husky Vision broadcast when the Engineers come to town, while @UConnWHOC on Twitter will also provide updates throughout both contests.
Most recently, head coach Chris MacKenzie's team lost a 6-2 decision to the Terriers at the Walter Brown Arena in Boston, Mass. The last time UConn played at Freitas, it tied No. 3 Boston College - 2-2 - on Friday, Oct. 20.
Senior goalie Annie Belanger earned Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week honors on Oct. 23, following her 45-save performance against the Eagles. She joins sophomore Briana Colangelo as the two UConn players to win WHEA recognition this season (Colangelo named Player of the Week on Oct. 16).
Colangelo enters the weekend tied for team-highs in goals (4) and points (8), nodded up with senior Leah Lum and freshman Natalie Snodgrass, respectively. Both Colangelo and Lum have a pair of power play goals this season.
Belanger is 2-2-1 in net for the Huskies, boasting a save percentage of .929 - fifth-best in Hockey East. Sophomore Morgan Fisher has made two starts in goal, earning a 1-1-0 mark, including a 24-save shutout win over Union on Oct. 14.
RPI leads the all-time series with UConn, 8-4-3, as the two programs split in Troy, N.Y. last season. The first meeting between the teams was back in 2001.
SCOUTING RPI
Rensselaer (3-4-1, 1-0-1 ECAC) has won three of its last four games, recently earning a 4-1 win against Brown on Saturday. The Engineers started the season 0-4, before their latest stretch of success. Shayna Tomlinson is RPI's leading scorer (3g-6a-9p), while the team ranks fifth in the ECAC in scoring offense.

HOME AGAIN
The Huskies get a pair of home games this weekend, before venturing on a three-game road trip to Boston University (Nov. 10), Maine (Nov. 12) and Boston College (Nov. 17). UConn is 2-1-1 at the Freitas Ice Forum this season, with wins over Union and a loss to Vermont.
