UConn Leads The Country In First Rounders

STORRS, Conn. - University of Connecticut men's hockey forward Tage Thompson (Orange, Conn.) was selected in the first round of the 2016 NHL Draft on Friday night by the St. Louis Blues as the 26th overall pick.
Thompson becomes the 15th UConn student-athlete to be selected in the first round of a professional sports draft since 2014 in the NBA, NFL, WNBA, NHL, Major League Baseball, MLS and Canadian Football League.
The 15 combined selections in these seven leagues is the most combined of any school in the country. Louisville is second with 11, Duke has 10 and Kentucky and Notre Dame have nine each.
UConn is the only school in the country since 2014 to have a first round pick in each of the traditional "Big Four Sports" ââ'¬" NFL, NBA, MLB and NHL.
