Huskies Round Out Weekend at Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA - The UConn men's track and field team wrapped up its final weekend of competition before the conference championship with a three-day showing at the 122nd annual Penn Relays on April 28-30.
After opening the weekend strong at the first two days of the Penn Relays (Days 1-2 recap is available by CLICKING HERE), the Huskies wrapped up the three-day event in front of 44,469 fans at historic Franklin Field in Philadelphia.
The Huskies' 4x400m relay squad (Beram, Henry, Sykes, Amonu) picked up a gold medal in the IC4A final on Saturday, crossing the finish line in 3:12.91. Connecticut's 4x800m relay team (Garmon, Barber, Timmerman, Bertoline) notched another top-10 finish in the event on Saturday afternoon, taking 10th overall with a time of 7:41.24 seconds.
Junior standout Craig Hunter shined in the pole vault in Saturday's final, earning second-place with a leap of 5.20m, while Oluwatosin Edwards (58.32m) and Chris Ackell (56.23m) finished eighth and 16th, respectively, in Saturday's hammer throw final.
