AUSTIN, Texas ââ'¬" After collecting a 47-point win over Central Connecticut on Dec. 23, the UConn men's basketball team returns to the court on Tuesday, Dec. 29 when it challenges Texas at Frank Erwin Center in the team's penultimate non-conference match-up. Tipoff is set for 9 p.m. and will be broadcasted on ESPN2 with radio coverage on the UConn/IMG Radio Network.
UConn (8-3) pushed its winning streak to three-straight with a 99-52 triumph over CCSU at the XL Center last week. Sophomore standout Daniel Hamilton (Los Angeles, Calif.) recorded the program's 11th-ever triple-double with an 11-point, 11-rebound and 11-assist effort against the Blue Devils. Graduate student Shonn Miller (Euclid, Ohio) poured in a season-best 25 points, while Connecticut shot 60.3 percent from the field as a team in the win.
The Huskies are 5-3 all-time vs. the Longhorns in a series that dates back to the 1991-92 season. A season ago, Texas topped Connecticut, 55-54, at Gampel Pavilion. The Longhorns enter the tilt on a six-game winning streak, most recently topping Stanford, 75-73. Junior guard Isaiah Taylor is the leading scorer (14.7) for the Longhorns and also tops the team in assists (5.1), while senior center Cameron Ridley is the leading rebounder (10.0).
Tuesday's battle will mark UConn's first true road game of the 2015-16 season after playing four neutral-court games through the first two months of the year. Connecticut is 11-11 in road games over the last two seasons and is 58-55 (.513) on the road in the last 11 seasons.
UConn has shot over 60.0 percent from the floor in each of its last three games and owns a 51.3 field goal percentage as a team this season.
