Huskies Blanked By USF, 8-0

The UConn softball team finished a three-game series at USF with an 8-0 (5 innings) defeat at the hands of the Bulls. With three losses this weekend, Connecticut dropped to 17-23 (5-8 BIG EAST) while USF improved to 32-16 (12-1 BIG EAST).
The Huskies lost the first two games of the series on Saturday, 9-2 and 2-1.
Sophomore Kiki Saveriano took the loss today and drops her record to 10-17. She pitched 4.0 innings, allowing four runs on seven hits and two walks.
The Huskies managed just four hits on the day with four different players notching singles. Senior Julianne Towers finished the day 1-for-2 with a walk and a stolen base. UConn also saw hits from Jennifer Ward, Amy Vaughan and Marissa Guches.
The Huskies will be in action next week with the final nonconference game of the season against Bryant in Storrs on Tuesday, April 26 beginning at 3:30. UConn will then host Providence in a pair of BIG EAST games on Wednesday, April 27 beginning at 2:00 p.m.
