Four Men's Soccer Players Ranked On Topdrawersoccer.com

STORRS, Conn. - The topdrawersoccer.com top-100 upperclassmen have been announced and four UConn stars earned a spot on the list. Sophomore defender Andrew Jean-Baptiste is the highest selection for Connecticut coming in at No. 7.
He's joined on the list by sophomore forward Mamadou Doudou Diouf at No. 15, junior midfielder Carlos Alvarez at No. 50 and senior forward Tony Cascio at No. 53.
Jean-Baptiste, the 2011 BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Year, played every minute of every game this season, finishing with two goals and an assist while limiting opponents to just 10 goals in 25 games. Jean-Baptiste anchored the nation's second ranked defense and helped UConn set a program record with 16 shutouts, besting the mark of 15 shutouts set by the 2000 NCAA Championship squad.
Diouf finished his sophomore campaign with a team-high 13 goals and 28 points. A 2011 All-BIG EAST First-Team selection, Diouf recorded four multi-goal games, including both goals in UConn's 2-1 victory over Monmouth in the NCAA Second Round.
Alvarez, a 2011 preseason All-American and Hermann Trophy Finalist, ranked second on the team with 20 points on six goals and eight assists. The 2011 All-BIG EAST Second-Team selection was sensational in the postseason, notching 10 points on three goals and four assists. Alvarez ended his junior year ranked seventh all-time at Connecticut with 33 assists.
Cascio entered the 2011 season as a Preseason All-American and the BIG EAST Preseason Offensive Player of the Year. He finished his final season in Storrs with 18 points on five goals and eight assists. Cascio notched goals in his final two games at Connecticut and finished his career with 73 points based off 24 goals and 25 assists. He was named to the 2011 All-BIG EAST Second Team as a senior.
The Huskies ended their season with a 4-2 loss in penalty kicks to Charlotte in the NCAA Quarterfinals after a 1-1 tie in double overtime. UConn concluded 2011 with a 19-3-3 record.
