King Victorious At UConn Heptathlon

STORRS, Conn. - Following a pair of victories on day two of the UConn Heptathlon, junior Aaron King (Wharton, N.J.) was victorious with 5,413 points, while teammate Jesse Chapman (East Thetford, Vt.) held on to his second place standing, ending the day with 5,057 points.
"I was very pleased with everyone's performances over the last two days here," Assistant Coach Rich Miller said. "Both Aaron and Jesse had great meets while Sam and Sean both had solid performances in all of the events. Hopefully they can all take something away from this meet and keep moving forward and improving."
King followed up his day one performance with victories in both, the 55m hurdles (7.75) and the pole vault (4.30m), coming away with a total of four individual event victories. Chapman had solid performances in all three events today, finishing second in the 55m hurdles (8.05) and the 1,000m run (2:55.87) while also placing third in the pole vault with a mark of 4.00m.
UConn's Sam Smith (Slingerlands, N.Y.) finished the Heptathlon in fourth place, ending the day with a third place finish in the 1,000m run (2:58.03) and a pair of fourth place finishes in the 55m hurdles (8.32) and the pole vault (3.90m). Freshman Sean Walsh (Freehold, N.J.) was the final Husky to compete, finishing sixth after winning the 1,000m run in 2:51.28. Walsh also posted a third place finish in the 55m hurdles (8.20) and a fifth place finish in the pole vault with a mark of 3.60m.
The Huskies return to action this afternoon, as the rest of the UConn squad traveled to New York, N.Y. to participate in the Great Dane Invitational which begins at 12:30 p.m.
