Four Huskies Named To NEWISA All-New England Teams

STORRS, Conn. - Four University of Connecticut women's soccer players earned New England Women's Intercollegiate Soccer Association (NEWISA) post-season awards for their efforts this season. Three of the four award winners were on UConn's backline. In addition, three of UConn's seniors were chosen to play in the NEWISA Senior Bowl on December 6.
Earning her fifth postseason award of the year, senior Brittany Taylor (Cambell Hall, N.Y.) was named to the NEWISA All-New England First Team. On the Second Team, UConn had three players named; juniors Kacey Richards (Williamstown, N.J.) and Becky Gundling (Farmington, Conn.) and senior Lauren Ebert (Hillsborough, N.J.). Richards, Gundling and Ebert are earning the award for the second time in their career as Taylor is rewarded for the fourth time.
Taylor, Ebert and senior Jessica Diakun (Glastonbury, Conn.) were all voted in to play in the NEWISA Senior Bowl. The game took place on December 6 at Rivier College in Nashua, N.H.
Taylor was tied for first place among votegetters and was joined by Ebert on defense. Diakun played up front for the Huskies. The three players selected from the Husky roster was tied for first among New England schools. Boston University and Yale both had three players nominated as well.
