Huskies Fall To Brown 8-1

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - In their tenth road game of the season, the University of Connecticut men's hockey team fell to Brown University 8-1 on Saturday night at Meehan Auditorium. Senior captain Michael Coppola (Old Brookville, N.Y.) scored the lone Husky goal on the night to squash the shutout bid.
Jess Fratkin recorded a hattrick on the night for the Bears, getting the first, second and final goal of the game.
The Huskies drop to 2-10-2 on the season as Brown earns their first win of the year improving to 1-7-1.
Junior Brad McInnis (Anchorage, Alaska) got the start in goal for the Huskies for the second time this season making 13 saves in the first 17 minutes and allowing five unanswered goals, including two within a span of 15 seconds. Freshman Jeff Larson (Ballwin, Mo.) took over for McInnis playing the final 43 minutes, allowing three more goals and making 20 saves on the night.
Brown started the night with a five goal first period. They notched another goal at the very beginning of the second and tallied one more before the end of the middle period of play.
The Huskies got on the board in the third at 12:15 when Coppola recorded his third goal of the season with a little help from freshman Evan Carriere (Ottawa, Ontario) and junior Jeff Sapieha (Calgary, Alberta). Carriere's assist was his second of the season while Sapieha's assist was his fourth of the year.
Right before the end of the game, Brown put one more on the board with just 17 seconds remaining. It was Fratkin who delivered recording his first career hattrick.
The Huskies return to action next Friday, December 4 in Erie, Pa. for a series with Mercyhurst in their final two games of the fall season. The puck will drop at 7:05 p.m.
