Two Goal Second Half Leads USF Past Huskies 2-1

TAMPA, Fla. - After starting off strong, the University of Connecticut women's soccer team let up two second half goals en route to a 2-1 loss at South Florida on Sunday. Junior Elise Fugowski (Stockholm, N.J.) put the Huskies up by one in the 28th minute, but they were unable to hang on to the lead.
With the loss, UConn drops to 9-5-0 on the year, 4-3-0 in the BIG EAST while South Florida improves to 6-5-3 on the season and 3-2-2 in the BIG EAST.
For the fifth-straight game, the Huskies scored the first goal, this time when Fugowski knocked in a cross from sophomore Melissa Busque (St. Bruno, Quebec). With the assist, Busque improved her point scoring streak to five games. During that time, the sophomore forward has recorded three goals and three assists for nine points.
The Huskies held the lead into the first half despite South Florida outshooting the Huskies 7-5.
In the second half, the South Florida offense came alive and Gina Pacheco was a huge part of that. Pacheco recorded the game tying goal in the 56th minute and added an assist in the 81st minute to give the Bulls the one goal lead and the victory.
The Huskies were outshot by their opposition for the third straight game this time 17-10. Sophomore Jessica Dulski (Pittsford, N.Y.) managed five saves in the loss adding to her season total of 68.
The Huskies are back in action next weekend with their final road trip of the regular season when they head out to South Bend, Ind. for a game with the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame Friday before heading to Chicago to take on the DePaul Blue Devils on Sunday.
