Fighting Irish Dominate Huskies 6-1

NOTRE DAME, Ind. - The Fighting Irish got out to a four-goal lead and never looked back as the University of Connecticut women's soccer team fell 6-1 under the lights to the University of Notre Dame, Friday.
Three Notre Dame players recorded two goals each in their victory.
The Huskies fall to 9-6-0 on the season and even things up at 4-4-0 in BIG EAST play as the Fighting Irish remain undefeated in the BIG EAST improving to 11-3-1 overall and 7-0-1 in the BIG EAST.
Notre Dame got out to a 3-0 lead before halftime with goals from Rose Augustin and Taylor Knaack who knotched two goals in the first half alone.
After the half, Notre Dame put another goal on the board in the 66th minute, this time when Erica Iantorno knocked in her first goal of the season with help from Knaack who recorded five points on the night.
The Huskies would finally get on the board just a minute later at 66:17 when Linda Ruutu blasted her team leading seventh goal of the season into the net from the middle of the box.
But Notre Dame would continue to fire at the goal ending the game with 27 shots to UConn's 11. Augustin and Iantorno both recorded their second goals of the game in the 80th and 81st minute.
UConn only managed four shots on goal on the night with only one coming in the first half.
The Huskies look to bounce back on Sunday at 2 p.m. when they face off in their final road game of the regular season at DePaul.
