Senior Jennifer Kleinhans (Mannheim, Germany) was recognized with first team status for the second time in her career, while fellow senior Lauren Aird (Harare, Zimbabwe) and sophomore Melissa Gonzalez (Mohegan Lake, N.Y.) were each honored with third team recognition.
Kleinhans also was named to the first team following her sophomore season and was a second team All-America choice as a junior. She was named BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Year this season for the third time. She led the Huskies in assists with 11 and was the unquestioned leader of the defense, which ranked among the top 5 nationally.
Aird earned Longstreth/NFHCA All-America status for the first time on her career following a season which saw her lead the Huskies in goals (20) and points (47). The senior was also a first team All-BIG EAST choice and finished her career as the program's third all-time leading goal scorer with 69.
Gonzalez followed her outstanding freshman season with an even more solid sophomore campaign. The offensive-minded forward posted 10 goals and four assists. She also was a pivotal member of the 2008 U.S. Junior Pan American Games squad which captured a gold medal this summer. She was previously recognized with first-team All-BIG EAST status for the first time on her career.
