Baseball Clinches A Seat In the BIG EAST Championship

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (May 11, 2006) – As released by the BIG EAST conference on Wednesday afternoon, the University of Connecticut baseball team has clinched a spot in the 2006 BIG EAST Championship. The tournament will be played at Brighthouse Networks Field in Clearwater, Fla. on May 23-28.

The league’s top eight teams based on regular-season finish in the conference standings qualify for the double-elimination event. The tournament champion receives the league’s automatic bid to the 2006 NCAA Division I Baseball Championship.
