Eng Named BIG EAST Rookie of the Week

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (September 26, 2005) – University of Connecticut women’s soccer player Elizabeth Eng (Chicago, Ill.) was selected as the BIG EAST Rookie of the Week, as announced by the conference office Monday. The freshman forward helped to lead the Huskies to two victories over conference newcomers No. 20/17 Marquette and USF.
Eng recorded a pair of goals against Marquette, one in the first half and the second in the second half to lead UConn over the Golden Eagles, 2-1. The freshman also played a key role in the Huskies’ 1-0 shutout versus the Bulls on Sunday.
Eng currently leads the team in points with 11 on a team-high four goals and three assists.
The Huskies return to action Friday, Sept. 30, at 7:00 p.m. against conference newcomer Cincinnati at UConn’s Joseph J. Morrone Stadium.
