NEWISA Awards Four Huskies With Second Team Honors

STORRS, Conn. (December 13, 2005) - Four members of the University of Connecticut women's soccer team were named to the New England Women's Intercollegiate Soccer Association (NEWISA) All-New England second team as announced on Monday. Senior Kristi Lefebvre (Colchester, Vt.), sophomore Meghan Schnur (Butler, Pa.) and freshman Brittany Taylor (Campbell Hall, N.Y.) were all named to the team for their contributions in the midfield and freshman Elizabeth Eng (Chicago, Ill.) for her play at forward.
Lefebvre was a co-captain this season, recording three goals and four assists for 10 points. She finishes her career at UConn with a total of eight goals, 13 assists and 29 points.
Schnur, a reshirt sophomore who spent the 2004 season playing for the U.S. National team added three goals and six assists to her career statistics for a total of eight goals, 15 assists and 31 points. Schnur was also named to the All-BIG EAST First Team this season.
Taylor, a freshman, was an offensive standout during the 2005 season, scoring eight goals and passing one assist for a total of 17 points. Taylor was also recognized this season as a Soccer Buzz Rookie of the Year finalist and an All-BIG EAST First Team honoree.
Eng, who was also named to the All-BIG EAST First Team, earned the NEWISA recognition for her standout performance in the 2005 season. Eng netted six goals and five assists for a total of 17 points. She was also twice named the BIG EAST Rookie of the Week.
