STORRS, Conn. (November 7) - University of Connecticut senior Megan Crawley (Georgetown, Texas) became the ninth Husky to tally 1,000 kills in her career on Sunday at Villanova. Crawley's 1,000 kill came midway into the second game of the match to give the Huskies a 17 to 15 lead in the game at that point.
Crawley, who had 15 kills on Saturday, now has 1,007 kills for her career. That total is good for eight place on the all-time list, replacing Heather Sokol, who had 1,005 between 1993 and 1996, in that spot.
In addition to being eighth on the all-time kills list, Crawley has also made her mark in other statistical categories. She currently stands in second place among all Huskies with a .289 hitting percentage for her career and is fifth on the list with 314 blocks.
Crawley and the rest of the Huskies will be back in action on Friday, Nov. 11 when they host Pittsburgh in Gampel Pavilion. On Sunday, Nov. 13, Crawley and fellow seniors Jenny Neelands (Gainesville, Fla.) and Heather Ashley (Smithsburg, Md.) will be honored before the 2:00 match against West Virginia on the Hartford Courant careerbuilder.com Senior Day.
