Three Huskies Earn Weekly Conference Honors

WAKEFIELD, Mass. (November 21, 2005) - Three University of Connecticut men's hockey players were honored this week with Atlantic Hockey Association accolades, as released by the conference office on Monday. Junior Scott McDougall (Mansfield, Mass.) was named the AHA Player of the Week and junior Cole Koidahl (Minneapolis, Minn.) and freshman B.J. Bayers (St. Louis Park, Minn.) were both named to the AHA honor role for their contributions to the Huskies' 9-3 victory over Canisius on Friday night.
In the game, McDougall tallied two goals along with three assists to record five points in a single night. The goals were his first of the season. This game improved his season statistics to two goals, four assists for a total of six points in eight games.
Koidahl has been a team leader all season. In Friday night’s victory he assisted on the fifth goal of the game and on Saturday night, he scored the team’s first goal at the 1:18 mark of the game. He also assisted on the team’s game-tying goal at the end of regulation. His season statistics are five goals and eight assists for 13 points in nine games.
Bayers is a freshman this season, but played like a veteran this weekend. He earned his first collegiate points with two goals in the Huskies’ victory over Canisius on Friday. He scored the first goal of the game that set Connecticut off on its seven unanswered goals run. He also scored the team’s sixth goal. Both goals were scored on even plays.
