Huskies Fall At Boston College, 2-1

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. (November 19) - The University of Connecticut women's ice hockey team fell to Boston College, 2-1, on Saturday afternoon. With the loss, the Huskies slip to 3-7-0 overall and 2-3-0 against Hockey East competition while Boston College is now 4-2-4 overall and 3-1-1 in the league.
UConn struck first in the game when sophomore Liz Gallinaro (Amherst, Mass.) picked up her fourth goal of the season at the 16:10 mark in the first period. She was unassisted on the play. The Huskies held the 1-0 lead for two minutes and forty seconds before Sarah Feldman took a pass from Meghan Fardelman and connected with the back of the net to tie the game 1-1 at the 18:50 point in the stanza.
The ice was quiet in the second period, as neither team could score to break the tie. Boston College out-shot UConn, 8-2, throughout the period. The scoring deadlock continued into the third period before Boston College's Becky Zavisza gave the Eagles the 2-1 advantage at the 11:19 mark in the stanza. She was assisted by Maggie Taverna on the play. The Huskies took just one shot in the period, a direct contrast to Boston College's eight.
UConn was 0-for-2 on the power play while Boston College was 0-for-3 with the man advantage. Senior Kaitlyn Shain (Calgary, Alberta) had 18 saves for the Huskies while taking the loss and Alison Quandt picked up nine saves in the win for the Eagles.
The Huskies will return to action on Sunday, Nov. 20 at Boston University. The puck is set to drop at 3:00 p.m.
