Huskies Sign DeVito to National Letter of Intent

STORRS, CT - The University of Connecticut baseball coach Andy Baylock has announced the signing of Nick DeVito from Hingham, MA to a National Letter of Intent for the 2004 baseball season. DeVito is the eleventh player to sign with UConn for next season.

Nick DeVito – IF/RHP – R/R, 6’6”, 225 lbs.
Hingham H.S., Hingham, MA
-two-sport star and captain in both basketball and baseball at Hingham High and is a prospect for the Major League Baseball Amateur Draft. His athleticism, size, arm strength, and power potential allow him to be a possible two-way player for the Huskies in the infield and on the mound. Was named MVP of the 16 and under AAU Invitational Tournament. Helped lead Bergen Beach, Brooklyn, New York team to the Continental Amateur Baseball Association World Series Championship in the summer of 2002. Perfect Game National Showcase participant in 2002 and was also voted homecoming king in his senior year at Hingham HS. Has starred for both AAU and American Legion teams over the past 4 years. Will join his brother Sam, a first baseman at Eckerd College (St. Petersburg, FL) in the college baseball ranks next year.

-3-time all-league, 2-time all-county, starting shortstop for Long Island in Empire State Games in summer of ’02, hit .452 with three homeruns and was 7-0 on the mound in ’02 for former major league pitcher Paul Gibson at Center Moriches H.S.

-all-county, all-section, participated in Area Code Games in Long Beach, CA for Boston Red Sox team in summer of ’02, also starred for Fred Eller Post of Rockland County in 2002 American Legion World Series, rated as 5th best prospect in state of New York by Prospects Plus, hit .402 with 7 homers in ‘02
