STORRS, CT (Dec. 31) – The University of Connecticut baseball team has just completed an outstanding academic semester. 22 student-athletes qualified for the Dean’s List, the highest number on record, and the team earned the highest cumulative GPA on record.
"I am glad that our players responded to the challenge that the coaching staff put to them mid-semester when we hit some bumps in the road academically. Fifteen of our student-athletes achieved the goals they set for themselves, but if we are going to be successful on the field and off, we need every man on our roster setting and reaching lofty goals." said head coach Jim Penders.
"I am especially pleased with our captains setting a solid example off the field. All three of our captains earned a GPA of 3.0 or better."
The Huskies will open up the 2004 season with a three game trip to Arizona State beginning on February 27 at 7:00 p.m.
